Bonafide Beef was born out of a vision to bring the finest steaks to Arizona’s tables. In 2013, we set out to revive a historic cattle ranch, transforming it into a beacon of quality and sustainability. Our mission is not just about beef; it’s about creating a seamless blend of farming, ranching, and production that honors tradition and innovation.

With our unique F1 crossbreed of Angus and Akaushi cattle, we promise a product that delivers unparalleled flavor and tenderness in every bite.

Acquisition of a historic ranch and alfalfa farm in southern Arizona.
2015
F1 crossbreed 
(Angus and Akaushi) selection for the ideal beef characteristics.

Completion of 
initial infrastructure, including alfalfa fields and feeder pens.

First successful harvest and positive reviews from Colorado State University Meat Science College.

Continuous improvement in cattle genetics and farming practices to maintain top-notch beef quality.

The Art of Raising Cattle

After hundreds of hours of meticulous research, we settled on an F1 crossbreed of Angus and Akaushi. To ensure we had the finest genetics, we turned to a fourth-generation seedstock producer to find the top 1% of Akaushi cattle. The Angus breed, renowned for its superior beef quality, combined with the Akaushi, or Red Wagyu, known for its tenderness, intense marbling, and exceptional flavor, offered the ideal genetic foundation. We meticulously selected our initial herd based on phenotype and marbling quality using traditional techniques and modern technology.

The Art of Raising
With our cattle selected, we got to work building the ideal environment for them in Benson, Arizona. Our team dedicated tens of thousands of man-hours to cultivating 900 acres of alfalfa fields, creating green pastures, and ensuring ample fresh air and room to roam. This conscientious and responsible approach ensures that our cattle are happy and healthy, which directly translates to the quality of our beef. Our unwavering commitment to creating the best possible environment for our cattle reflects our passion for excellence and our belief in doing things the right way.
